Job Description
Hands on People Pty Ltd is seeking a dedicated and reliable Property Maintenance Officer to join our Department of Care Services in Darwin. This is a part-time (contract) position within the Care Team (Office) category. As a Property Maintenance Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of our properties to create safe and comfortable environments for our clients and staff. Your main tasks will include:
Conducting regular inspections of company properties to identify maintenance needs
Identify and list all tangible and intangible assets owned by the organization. This includes property, equipment, vehicles, IT assets, intellectual property, etc.
Find, negotiate with, and manage contracts such as handyman services, gardeners, electricians, plumbers, etc., to ensure participant safety.
Maintain a detailed inventory of essential items required for daily operations, including PPE, cleaning supplies, groceries, toiletries, etc.
Manage major work projects within approved timeframes and budgets.
Manage vehicle insurance policies and handle insurance claims efficiently in case of accidents or damages.
Liaise with property managers, contractors, brokers, attorneys, etc., for necessary contracts before property transactions or major works.
Develop, modify, and update the Property Asset Management Framework as required
Performing routine maintenance tasks such as repairing fixtures, fittings, and equipment
Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations in all maintenance activities
Keeping accurate records of maintenance work and reporting any issues to the appropriate channels
Assisting with general office facilities management as required

Required Licences/Certifications
Current NT unrestricted driver’s license
Valid First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate
Valid OCHRE card
Current National Police Check or must have the ability to obtain one
Desired Skills and Experience
Experienced handyman preferred but not essential
Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to property maintenance
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
Basic computer skills for logging maintenance tasks and generating reports
A proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen eye for detail
